First, let me say welcome friend, were glad to have you here with us!

The purpose of this post is to be as clear and informative about Phoenix Ascension's play style and goals as possible.

PA is a Core Gamer guild, curious what that means, read on!

PA is located on the Seradon server.

Core Gamer
It is being used to denote a player or group of players that are in an intermediate position, neither hardcore, nor entirely casual. This choice is intended to allow us all to reach end game content in our own time, at our own pace.

PVP vs. PVE
Phoenix Ascension is a PVE guild

Progression
We may lag behind some guilds in progression, we will surpass others, either way we are not in a race to get to the end. We will make a steady and hopefully pleasing rise through the ranks in game. We will help one another to reach his or her potential. Above all else we will create and maintain a place to call home.

How about playtimes…
There are those of us that will be involved for a few hours on a regular basis. There are those that will be in game from sunrise to sunset. That’s just the way it works, and we know it. Raiding will take place based on EST (GMT -5) times, most likely starting around 7-8 PM EST and earlier on weekends, to anywhere from 11 PM EST – 1 AM EST. We don’t want players burning out, or suffering in real life situations due to game demands. We know that real life must take precedence.

Spheres
We as a guild seek to use all of the tools Sigil gives us, That mean's we’ll need to have people taking an active part in many different aspects of the game. This does not mean we’ll be asking you to play in a manner that doesn’t suit you. Be you adventurer, crafter, or diplomat we’ll be looking to make your choices an integral part of the guild and its adventures as a whole.

Classes
As of now 01-25-08 recruiting is selectively open. Please see THIS thread for more information Understand that your choice of class does not guarantee that you will have any better or worse chance of becoming part of Phoenix Ascension. Just that your chosen class may meet a need we have as a guild. It is our hope that you, the applicant will make a concerted effort to get to know us, play with us, and let us get to know you. So come mages, and come rogues, come warriors and come clerics, come one and all and let’s meet and decide our fates!

Role Playing & Races
We are not a role playing guild per say, however we do encourage you to fulfill your needs in this department. So be you from Thestra, Qulia, or Kojan, be you Human or Halfling, Giant or Dwarf, Vulmane or Kura, we welcome you. (you Halflings must bring pie!) Role play as you so choose, have fun above all else. *note* the use of /anon is not permitted. /role however is. (the preceding paragraph, only mentions but a few of the races in game, is not meant to imply a restriction. All races are welcome here)

Raiding
This is the biggie! First, some background. Many of the earliest members of this guild (it’s core) come from a wide and varied background in MMORPG’s, Most of us have seen many guild raid styles ranging from family friendly newbie guilds to the hardcore. Many of us have been Hardcore raiders. 90-100 % attendance, 5-7 days a week for as long as it takes, eventually dropping off to sleep at our keyboards due to exhaustion. Those days are long gone!

What we want to do is keep raiding fun and interesting, fewer nights and mild durations. A flexible range of dates and times to accommodate as many people as possible. However… expect no less than 100% effort and attention when raiding. We will wipe, we will farm, we will have good nights and we will have bad ones. That’s just the way it all goes. We prefer, through due diligence, to have many more great raids than poor ones.

You as a member of a PA raid will be expected to pay attention, do as you’re asked, and play your character to the best of your ability. Remember that you as an individual are part of a TEAM, and we expect you to act as such. There will be times when some members will seem to stand out, and that’s part of things, maybe that person or persons have an exceptional ability to handle certain circumstances, if so, then great. I hate to use this cliché, but thinking outside the box is a great way to approach many situations. Don’t hesitate to think of a way to overcome an obstacle, and if you happen to see something, contact an officer (NOT the DKP Officer, or raid leader please) and express your thoughts. First it keeps the number of /tells down for really busy folks, second it gives a second person the chance to evaluate your thoughts and possibly see a good aspect without being rushed.

Expect raid chatter to be kept to a minimum, expect that there will be delays at times, and not bitch about them. They happen, there no more fun for those running the raids than they are for those participating. Expect to die, it happens, some classes more than others. Wipes will happen, bugs will be encountered, and people’s internet links will drop at crucial times. NO amount of complaining will change that. The less time spent worrying or complaining about the inevitable the better.

ALSO! Expect to see great loot, expect to have a blast (and you will), expect to see people do funny things that will leave you smiling for days on end (we have Linkagge). In time we’ll become a well oiled raiding machine and we’ll see incredible runs where we will do what some could not imagine. Trust me, it’s the greatest feeling to stroll in and smoke some nasty boss mob somewhere for the first time! It's an even better feeling to be able to say MY GUILD did this, and we'll do it again!!

Loot
Raid loot will be handled via Wish List. We are currently working on a system that will be as fair as possible to all members and play styles. You can expect that contributions to the guild in the form of involvement will have its rewards. Yet those that have less time to invest will still have an equal chance to gear up.
Folks, no loot system will ever be perfect, but we hope to make it as good as it possibly can be. You need to understand that these systems are a large burden that usually falls on the shoulders of a few people and tends to make the gaming experience less than ideal for them. We hope to avoid that situation. Expect that wishlist will be done in full view of the guild, you’ll know what is going on because you will be directly involved in the way it runs.

Disputes
First and foremost this is a game that has REAL people behind the pixels. As in life you won’t get along with everyone. What we would like from you as a member of PA, is to take the approach of being considerate of others first. If you have a problem with someone, try to solve it in a decent fashion. Should that dispute seem to be too large to overcome, please bring it to an officer. Your attitude and actions directly reflect upon all of us, and we do intend to maintain a good reputation. PA as a guild won’t tolerate our own acting in an inconsiderate manner. No “camp stealing” or /ooc “f*n noob” or any of that other childish crap. HOWEVER ! That does not mean we will let people run roughshod over us. Expect that when problems arise, we’ll stand shoulder to shoulder and deal with them.

Alliances
As of this moment Phoenix Ascension claims no alliance with any other guild. We may or may not, in the future, decide upon alliances as situations develop. Note also that as a member of PA we expect you to remain solely a member of PA. Applications to, or membership in another guild, will be grounds for non acceptance or dismissal as circumstance dictates.

Recruiting

Recruitment will not be a random /guild invite. We require you to post an application and begin an activity thread in the "Recruit Activities" section of the board, in order to become a Initiate member (2 weeks). After those 2 weeks the members of PA will vote on you for acceptance or denial…either of these two choices for the PA membership are completely your responsibility, your behavior, participation and fit with the guild will be the deciding factors. If you pass the vote you will become a member of the guild but will be on probation for the first month of membership, basically were still watching closely. The only thing denied you at this point is voting rights. after that first month you will gain voting rights

Now that all of that's out of the way... Pull up a chair, grab a cold frosty Dwarven Ale, or maybe some of the Orc's swill (If that's yer thing), and tell us about yerself. I'm Chesshire, and over there that Kura's name be Swayde, and the barbarian to her right is Tudana. Now that pasty lookin Elf there is...

Fin. :D
